The original was designed by Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd in 1980 as a symbol of and tribute to John Lennon's fight for a peaceful world. All surplus from the sale goes to the non-profit organization Non-Violence Project Foundation whose aim and purpose is to reduce violence in society.
