Golden morning - eider: - Here I am on Getterön outside Varberg, says the artist Lars Fredholm about the painting Golden morning - eider. The place is world famous for its large concentrations of waders. We started by car at half past two in the morning in order to be there when the sun rises. When we then arrived it was a fantastic light with a morning mist on the ground, while the sea was absolutely crystal clear. Unfortunately, there was not a single wader on site. Instead, he found a female eider sitting on a rock, in the warmth of the sunrise, and all around were scores of other female eiders taking turns guarding the babies and feeding them. - I lie down close to the ground with a cover over me so as not to be discovered and scare them away, says Lars. It was also how I got the low perspective I was looking for, at the height of the bird. It should feel like you are in the water, right next to it. There I lay and both sketched and photographed to be able to reproduce the calm, the relaxation and the fantastic light this morning, everything that together created such an incredibly beautiful atmosphere.
